Dave Martin
Dave Martin is a Dunmore resident and in his sixth year as
the Director of Athletics at Misericordia University. During his tenure as AD
the Cougars have won seven Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championships, three
Middle Atlantic Conference championships, and two ECAC championships. In
addition, MU has earned seven NCAA tournament berths.
Martin previously spent 14 seasons as head men’s basketball
coach at Misericordia and served as associate athletics director and coordinator
of athletic recruiting. He led the Cougars to 11 PAC playoff berths, two
appearances in the PAC finals, and two trips to the ECAC championships. He
coached 27 all-conference players, 4 all-region players, and one two-time
All-American. His on-court philosophy of team play and hard work has paved the
way for Martin’s success. While coaching, Martin’s players also achieved in the
classroom. He coached 38 All-Academic student-athletes and every senior who
played for Martin has graduated from Misericordia.
Martin compiled 178 career wins at MU, most in school
history, and was a four -time PAC Coach of the Year as well as being named the
Region 19 Coach of the Year.
Prior to his arrival at MU, Martin was an assistant at Wilkes
University for five years. He has been the director of numerous basketball camps
throughout the region and has been a guest lecturer at basketball camps and
clinics up and down the east coast.
Martin currently serves on the NCAA Division III Men’s
Basketball Championship Committee, and is Chair of the Finance committee and a
member of the Board of Directors of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
He is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and has
served as a congressman in the NABC.
A summa cum laude graduate of Wilkes University, Martin
earned a master’s degree in education from Misericordia.
