Basalyga contributes at Wilkes

Former Abington Heights High School and JB Hoops basketball player Clay Basalyga has started 19 games in the first two years of his college career at Wilkes University.

Basalyga, who has remained a part of Backcourt Hoops after his playing days in the program, recently completed his sophomore season for the Colonels, who went 12-13.

When he is not working on his own game, the 6-foot-3 guard can be found helping younger players at Backcourt Hoops. He serves as a tournament director and youth summer camp director as well as providing private training.

Basalyga appeared in 24 games, including 15 starts, averaging 17.2 minutes during the 2016-17 season at Wilkes. He had 9 points on 2 occasions and finished with an average of 3.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.6 steals.

As a freshman, Basalyga started 4 of 27 games. He averaged 5.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
Basalyga was part of Lackawanna League Division 1 and District 2 Class 3A championships while at Abington Heights.
