JB Hoops was well-represented April 15 when Pennsylvania Sports Writers released their all-state high school basketball team.
Current JB Hoops players Jackson Danzig and George Tinsley from Abington Heights were second- and third-team selections in Class 5A.
JB Hoops alumni Paddy Casey and Logan Bailey from Scranton Prep made the second and third team in Class 4A.
Danzig and Tinsley led Abington Heights to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association semifinals, the deepest run in the state tournament by any District 2 team. The Comets also won the District 2 Class 5A title.
Casey and Bailey led Scranton Prep to Lackawanna League Division 1 and District 2 Class 4A titles. The Cavaliers then advanced to the second round of the state tournament.
Danzig averaged 12.4 points per game on the season. The 6-foot-5 junior averaged 20.5 points during the state playoff run, including 18 overtime points in a quarterfinal win over Chester.
Tinsley, a 6-foot-5 sophomore, averaged a team-high 13.2 points. He was the only sophomore recognized among the top 20 Class 5A players in the state.
Casey averaged a team-high 15.1 points per game while running the Cavaliers offense. The 6-foot- senior point guard has committed to play NCAA Division II basketball at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
Bailey, a 6-foot-3 senior, averaged 13.3 points. He will continue his career at the University of Scranton.
