JB Hoops Rose scores two wins at Pre-Season Challenge

MANHEIM – JB Hoops Rose started strong in the first game and used a big finish in the second to come out of Friday with a 2-0 record in Pool MM of the Blue Chip Pre-Season Challenge, powered by Under Armour, at Spooky Nook Sports.

JB Hoops defeated In The Zone Platinum, 49-44, before topping the Lady Running Rebels Wrice, 40-37.

Rachael Rose made her first five shots during a 15-8 start in the first six minutes against In the Zone. All five baskets were scored off drives, including three in transition and two off of steals.

JB Hoops trailed for just 1:54 of the entire 32-minute game. That came during the early moments of the second half when the teams traded the lead four times.

Rose had five more points in a 12-2 run to wipe out the last deficit. She finished 8-for-9 from the floor with a game-high 18 points.

Rose had 12 points in the win over the Lady Running Rebels. Rachel McDonald added eight points.

JB Hoops was held without a basket for the first 6:05 of the second half. It fell behind, 33-26, with 8:50 to go.

Rose had the first two baskets of an 11-point streak that changed the game. She then set up a Skylar Bianchi basket to cut the lead to one.

Two key three-point plays brought JB Hoops to the win.

Kayla Rose scored off a Maria Belardi pass for the lead with 4:03 left. McDonald took an in-bounds pass in for a 40-35 lead with lead with 18.8 seconds left, practically clinching the win.

JB Hoops is 2-0 going into two Saturday morning games, including at 9 a.m. against Team Assistant Virginia It finishes the tournament Sunday morning at 9 against Rising Stars Paprocky, the only other team in the six-team pool that went 2-0 Friday.
