Wyoming Valley West and JB Hoops alumnus Olivia Hoffman has been a defensive force throughout the first three years of her career at King’s College.
Hoffman has blocked shots at an historic level and contributed other ways defensively at King’s where she served as team captain as a junior during the 2016-17 season.
The 6-foot-2 forward is already the school’s all-time leader in career blocks with 258. Assuming the expected players return, Hoffman will open the 2017-18 season ranked third among active college women’s players on all levels nationally in terms of career blocked shots.
Hoffman led King’s in blocked shots, defensive rebounds and total rebounds while ranking second in steals.
After the Lady Monarchs struggled through a 5-19 season, Hoffman was the only player on the team to be recognized on the All-Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom selections, receiving honorable mention.
While starting in all 24 games, Hoffman averaged 8.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocked shots, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals.
Hoffman’s 4.0 blocked shot average set an MAC Freedom record and ranked sixth nationally. Her 95 blocks was one short of her school record set during the 2015-16 season in one additional game.
Offensively, Hoffman hit 38.5 percent of her shots from the floor and 55.1 percent from the line. She was fourth on the team in scoring.
