Successful tournament for JB Hoops
The JB Hoops girls had a successful run come to an end Tuesday morning with a season- and tournament-ending loss at the USJN 17U National Championships.
The Future, from nearby Washington, D.C., defeated JB Hoops, 55-41, in a Bronze Consolation Division quarterfinal at the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md.
Both teams had gone 4-1 in pool play to finish second in their pools. JB Hoops finished second because it lost a tiebreaker to the Brooklyn Saints, who used a fourth-quarter rally to win their head-to-head meeting Saturday.
JB Hoops bounced back from that pool loss to win three straight and earn itself a spot in elimination bracket play at the National Championships for the first time.
Two-thirds of the teams at the event were out of the tournament when pool play ended.
