Emily Sheehan’s days playing for the JB Hoops team may be over, but the Dunmore graduate still spends a lot of her time around the Backcourt Hoops program at Riverfront Sports in Scranton.
“Last year, I was a student intern; I did a lot of work in the office and with tournament applications,” said Sheehan, who changed things up between her freshman and sophomore years at the University of Scranton by serving as head coach of a Lady Storm seventh-and-eighth grade basketball team this spring. “ … I lift upstairs (at Excel Fitness) almost all year except when we’re doing it at school.
“I’m always here.”
Sheehan used her time with JB Hoops to continue developing the game that made her a big part of four Lackawanna League divisional championships and three District 2 Class 2A titles while playing for the Lady Bucks. It also helped her land a chance to play close to home in the University of Scranton’s nationally ranked Division III program.
As a freshman, Sheehan averaged 3.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 20 games for the Lady Royals. She shot 92.3 percent from the line, going 12-for-13.
