University of Scranton junior guard and JB Hoops alum Bridgette Mann was honored twice for a big week while leading the Lady Royals to three victories.
Mann was named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week for women’s basketball as well as landing one of five spots no the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for top performances around the nation.
The Wallenpaupack graduate was named Most Valuable Player of the Hilton Scranton Poinsettia Classic, finished her week with a career-high 26 points in a 65-60 overtime victory over 17th-ranked Messiah College in the championship game.
Scranton moved to 20th in the national rankings and added another win, improving to 9-1 with a 70-59 victory over Lebanon Valley.
The awards were for the previous three games in which Mann went 12-for-25 (48 percent) from 3-point range while averaging 20.7 points, 4.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals.
Mann scored Scranton’s final nine points while rallying the Lady Royals in the last two minutes of a 67-63 victory at York College Dec. 13. She finished with a team-high 19 points and 5 assists.
In Friday’s Poinsettia opener, Mann had 17 points and 5 assists in an 81-48 rout of Hartwick College.
Mann locked up tournament MVP honors by adding 7 rebounds to her career-high scoring effort against Messiah.
Since the award-winning effort, Mann hit all six free throws while scoring 12 points against Lebanon Valley.
Mann leads Scranton in minutes played (319), field goals (49), 3-pointers made (29), 3-point percentage (44.6), scoring (15.5 per game) and assists (3.8 per game).
