JB Hoops players sweep WVC boys MVP awards

When Wyoming Valley Conference boys basketball coaches met to pick their all-star teams Sunday, players from the JB Hoops program swept the Most Valuable Player awards in all three divisions.
Josh Samec from Hazleton Area was selected in Division 1, Nate Kreitzer from Nanticoke was picked in Division 2 and Dimitri Gnall from Wyoming Seminary was recognized in Division 3 after each led their teams to championships.
The JB Hoops program had seven other players recognized, including five first-team all-stars.
Joe Grula and Jeff Planutis were first-team picks in Division 1 after helping Hazleton Area to the WVC’s only perfect record.

Jay Bittner from Dallas joined them on the first team.
Juwane Buckner from Meyers was a first-teamer in Division 2 while Jeremy Callahan from Wyoming Seminary made it in Division 3.
Alex Charlton from Dallas was a second-team selection in Division 1. Tunkhannock’s Sean Harder was a second-team pick in Division 2.
Two players from JB Hoops were among the selections when the WVC girls coaches named their teams.

Pittston Area’s Leah Hodick was named as a first-team all-star in Division 1.
Lauren Charlton from Dallas missed half the season with an injury, but still received Division 1 honorable mention.
