JB Hoops girls make impression at showcase

Five JB Hoops – three from the Class of 2019 and two from the Class of 2020 – received praise for their efforts April 7-8 in the Northeast Elite College Showcase at Rhode Island College April 7-8.

Gianna Delfino, Victoria Toomey, Lisa Tallo, Mackenzie Steele and Leah Hodick were mentioned on the negirlsrecruiting.com website in its recap of the event.

All five are veterans of the JB Hoops program and were key players on successful high school teams during the winter.

Toomey, Delfino and Tallo were juniors on the Dunmore team that advanced to the state Class 3A semifinals after winning Lackawanna League Division 3 and District 2 Class 3A titles.

Steele helped Susquehanna to its first District 2 Class A titles in her first two high school seasons and its first Lackawanna League Division 4 championship in her recently completed sophomore season.

Hodick, another sophomore, has already started two seasons at Pittston Area.

The assessment, in part, pointed out Delfino’s court visition and passing; Toomey’s quick moves and jump hook; Tallo’s shooting and handling of ball pressure; Steele’s post-up ability; and Hodick’s strength and relentless effort on the boards.
