Toomey, Rose named all-state

JB Hoops players Victoria Toomey and Rachael Rose received all-state recognition from Pennsylvania sports writers for their performance during the high school season.

Toomey, a Dunmore junior, was a second-team, all-state selection in Class 3A.

Rose, a Scranton Prep freshman, made the third team in Class 4A.

Toomey, a 6-foot-1 center, averaged 17 points per game while helping Dunmore to a 28-2 record, a trip to the state semifinals and championships of both Lackawanna League Division 3 and District 2 Class 3A.

Rose, a 5-2 point guard, helped Scranton Prep to an unbeaten season in the Lackawanna League, leading all Division 1 players with 15.7 points per game. She helped the Classics win the division and the District 2 Class 4A title while going 25-3 and reaching the quarterfinals of the state tournament.

Both Dunmore and Scranton Prep were eliminated by eventual state champions.
