OXON HILL, Md. – The Loudoun Flight won its second game of the night to lock up second place and officially eliminate JB Hoops Coleman from consideration for bracket play at the USJN 17U Girls Nationals.

Final standings for Pool XX, with record and point differential:

Always 100 Wilmont (Ind.)  5-0, +68

Loudoun Flight (Va.)  4-1, +24

Clippers (N.M.)  2-3, -4

JB Hoops Coleman (Pa.)  2-3, -12

OXON HILL, Md. – It’s official.

USJN has posted the final standings for Pool GG on its website and JB Hoops Carra has won the six-team pool at USJN 17U Girls Nationals on a tiebreaker over the MT Elite Ducks Onyx from Massachusetts.

Monday’s 36-31 overtime victory in which JB Hoops shut out the Ducks in the two-minute period wound up deciding the pool.

JB Hoops won the head-to-head meeting and had the best point differential in the pool. Teams are giving a maximum of 15 points for wins of 15 or higher.

The final standings:

JB Hoops Carra (Pa.)  4-1, +45

MT Elite Ducks Onyx (Mass.)  4-1, +24

Team Wall (NC)  3-2, +24

Baltimore Charm (Md.)  3-2, +7

Rise As One (N.J.)  1-4, -30

Breakers Ebersole (R.I.)  0-5, -70

JB Hoops Carra advances to the Bronze Championship Division along with the winners of seven other pools. It would need to win games at 8 a.m., 1:20 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. Wednesday to win the division.

Unofficially, the morning game will be against Team NN winner Havoc Florence from New York. Havoc Florence went 4-1 and won its pool on a tiebreaker.

OXON HILL, Md. – The Clippers from New Mexico defeated JB Hoops Coleman, 42-35, tonight at the USJN 17U Nationals.

JB Hoops Coleman went 0-2 on the day to finish 2-3 in Pool XX. It is awaiting one more result to determine its final standing in the six-team pool.

OXON HILL, Md. – JB Hoops Carra turned a first-place showdown into a rout.

Getting contributions from all over the lineup and dominating in every phase of the game, JB Hoops mauled the Baltimore Charm, 61-28, in a late-night finale of Pool GG play in the USJN 17U Girls Nationals at the Gaylord National Convention Center.

It wasn’t that close.

JB Hoops built the lead to 41 points before the Charm scored nine of the game’s last 10 points.

Both teams entered the game with 3-1 pool records as part of a three-way tie for first. JB Hoops had already beaten the other team in the tie, MT Elite Ducks from Massachusetts.

Although final standings have not been posted, JB Hoops appears to have finished first and earned one of Wednesday’s championship bracket spots.

Baltimore had leads of 2-0 and 6-4, but JB Hoops blew the game open by allowing just one basket for more than 11 ½ minutes. During that time, it turned a 9-8 lead into a 40-13 advantage.

JB Hoops won by earning extra shots in the first half, then making all of its shots early in the second half.

By getting 12 offensive rebounds and forcing 8 turnovers while committing just 1, JB Hoops was able to take 34 shots from the floor in the first half while Baltimore was getting off only 16.

JB Hoops closed the first half on a 19-1 run to a 32-11 lead. It then opened the second half with an 8-2 burst.

After making the first six shots of the second half, including 3-pointers by Morgan Haefele, Lauren Charlton and Moriah Murray, the lead was at 48-16.

Haefele made all three of her shots. After hitting two 3-pointers, her last one from near the same spot was credited as a two-point basket for the game’s biggest lead at 60-19 with 5:20 left.

JB Hoops shot better than 60 percent in the second half.

Leah Hodick, who also grabbed six rebounds, and Charlton led the way with 11 points each.

Rachael Rose added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Moriah Murray went 3-for-5 on 3-pointers while scoring nine. Haefele added eight points and two steals.

Gracie Guarino grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, including four on the offensive end. She led JB Hoops to a 41-30 rebounding advantage.

Victoria Toomey had team-highs of five assists and two blocked shots.

OXON HILL, Md. – The Loudoun Flight used steals in the first half and a rebounding advantage in the second half to defeat JB Hoops Coleman, 50-38, tonight in a key USJN 17U Girls Nationals Pool XX game.

The two teams entered the game tied for second in the pool. When the night is over, two teams from the pool will advance into bracket play tomorrow.

Loudoun forced 21 turnovers while committing just 12. It had 15 steals, including 10 in the first half while taking a 24-20 lead.

The Flight, from Loudoun County in the extended suburbs of Washington, D.C., had an 18-9 rebounding advantage in the first 11 minutes of the second half when it was taking control of the game.

Taylor Huyck led the way for JB Hoops with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.

Cecelia Collins added nine points and three assists. She hit her first two 3-point attempts and finished 3-for-5 from long range.

Collins and Huyck each gave JB Hoops leads with 3-pointers midway through the first half.

Kylie Lavelle, who finished with eight points, put JB Hoops ahead for the last time at 16-15 with 6:05 left in the half.

Loudoun used an 11-3 run over a stretch of more than six minutes early in the second half to take a 35-25 lead.

Lauren Casey blocked three shots while Lavelle and Bethany Maby joined Huyck with two steals each.

OXON HILL, Md. – JB Hoops Carra added a balanced scoring effort to strong defense tonight while routing Breakers Ebersole from Rhode Island, 50-19, at the USJN 17U Girls National Championships.

Victoria Toomey scored a game-high 13 points and six players had at least five in the win. Toomey had 10 of her team’s 14 points during one stretch as JB Hoops Carra was running away with the win.

Leah Hodick scored nine, Rachael Rose had seven, Morgan Haefele and Mackenzie Steele had six and Lauren Charlton had five.

A total of 384 teams are competing in 64 pools of six teams each.

JB Hoops Carra is trying to wind up among the one-third of those that advance to bracket play Wednesday.

The top teams in each pool will play in eight championship brackets of eight teams each. The second-place teams will play in eight consolation brackets of eight teams each.

OXON HILL, Md. – The Baltimore Charm defeated Team Wall from Raleigh, N.C., 54-51, making tonight’s Charm-JB Hoops Carra game for at least a share of first place in Pool GG of the USJN 17U Girls National Championships.

The winner is assured of advancing to the elimination brackets.

Both teams are 3-1 with one game to play, meaning the winner will finish either alone in first place or in a two-way tie for first. The top two teams in the pool advance to Wednesday’s bracket play.

The day began with four teams in Pool GG tied at 2-1. Baltimore reduced that tie to three teams by handing Team Wall its second loss.

OXON HILL, Md. – JB Hoops teams split their early evening games at the USJN 17U Girls Nationals.

JB Hoops Carra handled Breakers Ebersole from Rhode Island, 50-19, to remain tied for the best record in Pool GG, setting up a big game to finish pool play.

The Loudoun Flight from Virginia defeated JB Hoops Coleman, 50-38, severely damaging the team’s hopes of advancing out of Pool XX.

More details on the games will be posted here prior to tonight’s 9:50 finales of pool play.

Separate from the blog is a new story on Morgan Haefele, one of the four JB Hoops Carra players who is finishing up a lengthy career with the program at this week’s tournament, which is being played at the Gaylord Convention Center at National Harbor.

OXON HILL, Md. – The JB Hoops Carra and Coleman teams traveled together to the National Harbor and, for two days, they have supported each other at games in the USJN 17U Girls Nationals.

When JB Hoops Coleman pulled out its second win of the day in the final minute late Monday, the JB Hoops Carra girls were there loudly cheering them on as Cecelia Collins hit the game-winning shot from right in front of the cheering section.

With berths in Wednesday’s bracket play at stake, the Carra and Coleman teams will go their separate ways this evening, each playing twice in simultaneous games on different courts.

Both teams are 2-1 and in the middle ofraces to be among the two teams from each six-team pool to make it to Wednesday.

JB Hoops Carra, the Baltimore Charm Basketball Club from Maryland, the MT Elite Ducks Onyx from Massachusetts and Team Wall from North Carolina are all 2-1 in Pool GG going into their last two games today.

Always 100 Wilmont from Indiana is dominating Pool XX, winning three games by a total of 63 points despite already playing the two teams tied for second place.

JB Hoops Coleman and the Loudoun Flight from Virginia are tied for second at 2-1 going into their 6:20 game that has a strong chance of deciding the second team to advance from the pool.

Across the main room that holds 20 of the courts in the Gaylord National Convention Center, JB Hoops Carra will play Breakers Ebersole from Rhode Island (0-3).

At 9:50, the teams will be playing on different floors.

JB Hoops Carra will be upstairs playing the Baltimore Charm, one of the teams that enters the day in the first-place tie. Through Monday’s action, the Charm had a slight tiebreaker advantage on point differential over JB Hoops Carra and Team Wall, all in front of the MT Elite Ducks. The Ducks, however, are the only team in the tie that gets to play the two opponents with losing records.
