Toomey receives offer from FDU

By Tom Robinson

Fresh off her all-star performance for JB Hoops Carra at USJN 17U Nationals, Victoria Toomey has received a full scholarship offer from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Toomey, who is entering her senior season at Dunmore, was selected as an all-star for Pool GG when JB Hoops Carra finished first of six teams to advance into championship bracket play in last week’s event at the Gaylord National Convention Center in Oxon Hill, Md.

During the high school season, Toomey was a second-team, all-state pick in Class 3A by Pennsylvania sports writers and was the Player of the Year for all of District 2, as well as Lackawanna League Division 3. She led the Lady Bucks to Lackawanna Division 3 and District 2 Class 3A championships.

Toomey led JB Hoops with 11 points per game at nationals. The forward/center also had games in which she led the team in rebounds, assists or blocked shots.

Fairleigh Dickinson is a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I school, located in Teaneck and Hackensack, N.J. and playing in the Northeast Conference. The Knights are coming off a season in which they went 7-11 in the NEC and 15-15 overall.
