Players from BCH prevalent on 3 on 3 championship teams

The Lackawanna County 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament drew 73 teams to downtown Scranton July 27-29.

More than half the champions of the event’s various age groups came from Backcourt Hoops in Scranton.

The highest-level girls champion was made up exclusively of girls players from the facility’s AAU teams.

Sheehan’s Shooters went 6-0 while winning the Girls 8th Grade title.

The team included Ciera Toomey from the NEPA Flames 8th Grade team, Skylar Long and Isabella Rebar from the NEPA Flames 7th Grade team and Gianna Carafella and Cadie Lewis from the Lady Storm 7th-8th Grade team.

Sheehan’s Shooters defeated Triple Threat, 20-5, in the semifinals and Cougars, 20-8, for the title.

Three of the four players on the Boys High School champions are JB Hoops Brown teammates.

Ryan Harder, Jack Chilson and Ethan Meuser joined Riley Jones to form the team that went 6-0, defeating WV Barons, 20-16, in the semifinals and SIX, 20-11, in the final.

The Men’s Division champion is made up of players from the Scranton Shamrock’s Men’s League and has strong ties to the JB Hoops AAU team.

Bill & Da Boyz went 5-1. It had JB Hoops alums Seth Callahan and Alec Rodway, JB Hoops Callahan head coach Bill Callahan and Bryan Gallagher on the roster.

After beating Big Baller Brand, 20-13, in the semifinals, Bill & Da Boyz topped BBB, 20-14, in the title game.

Every boys championship team had Backcourt Hoops ties.

Superman won the Boys 8th Grade title with Backcourt Hoops Bulldogs 7th Grade team members Eli Yusavage, Danny Nemitz and Karter Kromko joining LV Pegula and Logan McConnell.

The Bulldogs won the Boys 7th Grade title. They combined Backcourt Hoops Bulldogs 6th Grade teammates Gabriel Tanner, Nicholas Williams and Mason Fedor with Hazzyon Reed and Jovani Crisifulli.

Hot Shotz went undefeated to win the Boys 6th Grade title. Backcourt Hoops Bulldogs 5th Grade team member Nick Kucharski joined Tyler Scoblick, Aiden Smola, Brayden McConnell and Noah Veno, who all play in summer leagues at Backcourt Hoops.

Splash Brothers went unbeaten to win the Boys 4th-5th Grade championship. Jordan Shaffer, Andrew Kettel, Mason Kingery and Brayden Rose from the Electric City Voltz 4th Grade team were joined by Merrick Parker.

The Hot Shots were the unbeaten Girls 6th Grade champion. Shannon Gillen, Maggie Pegula and Giada Costa from the Lady Storm 5th-6th Grade team joined Callie Gillen on the championship squad.
