ALUMNI REPORT: Walsh making impact as Temple runner

JB Hoops and Holy Cross graduate Lexi Walsh was Temple University’s second finisher during Saturday’s 45th annual Paul Short Run at Lehigh University in Bethlehem.

Temple ran among 47 teams in the Brown Race at the event, which draws more than 450 college and high school teams to the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course for a total of 14 races on the day.

Walsh, a freshman, finished the 6-kilometer course in 24:35. She finished 227th out of 363 runners.

A District 2 first-team all-star at Holy Cross, according to, Walsh was also a champion distance runner, earning her the chance to compete on the NCAA Division I level.

Walsh had figured in the scoring in wins over LaSalle, West Chester and Jefferson in the season-opening Temple Invitational.

“Lexi is a girl who stood out to us and was all-state in Pennsylvania last year in cross country,” coach James Snyder said, according to a season preview story on the Temple athletic website. “She also took advantage of the summer training to really help her transform into a collegiate athlete.”
