Huyck reaches 1,000th point at Susquehanna
Taylor Huyck did not take long to reach a career scoring milestone.
Knowing she needed just three points to become the first Susquehanna girl in 10 years to join the 1,000-point club, Huyck got there on her first shot of the game.
Huyck’s 3-pointer from the left wing 1:08 into Friday’s home game against Forest City got her to the mark.
The junior scored 7 points in the first quarter and finished the night with 15 points to help Susquehanna complete its second straight 12-0 season in Division 4 of the Lackawanna League with a 58-24 rout of Forest City.
Huyck has started throughout three straight championship seasons for the Lady Sabers, who won the last two District 2 Class A championships. The division’s top scorer is averaging more than 15 points per game this season.
