Three current members of the JB Hoops Girls National team and a recent graduate of the program were among the players selected to the Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State Girls Basketball team that was revealed today.
Dunmore’s Moriah Murray was a first-team selection in Class 3A, the only freshman selected to the first team in any of the six classifications.
Murray and senior teammate Victoria Toomey both made the first team. Toomey completed her AAU eligibility with JB Hoops last summer and has committed to continue her basketball career on the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I level at Rider University.
Scranton Prep sophomore Rachael Rose, in Class 4A, and Susquehanna junior Taylor Huyck, in Class A, each made the third team.
Toomey moved up from second team last season to first team this season. Rose earned third-team honors for the second straight season.
Murray’s 15.8 points per game led Dunmore, which suffered its only loss in the state championship game. The Lady Bucks won the Lackawanna League Division 3 and District 2 Class 3A titles.
Toomey averaged 12.6 points per game.
Rose averaged 17.6 points while leading Scranton Prep to repeats of its Lackawanna Division 1 and District 2 Class 4A championships.
Huyck led Susquehanna to its first state quarterfinal appearance along with a District 2-11 Class A Subregional title and a repeat of its Lackawanna League Division 4 championship. She averaged 14.7 points.
