MANHEIM – The JB Hoops boys are continuing a busy week on the road.
After playing the previous three days in Atlantic City, two JB Hoops teams are at Spooky Nook in Manheim, Lancaster County for the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest Saturday and Sunday.
JB Hoops Callahan and JB Hoops Brunner each lost their first games of the event, which features bracket play from the start.
JB Hoops Callahan came back Saturday afternoon with a 59-57 victory over Middlesex Magic White when Brennan Higgins hit the game-winning, 3-pointer with 52 seconds left for the game’s final points.
“I thought we played really well in Atlantic City,” coach Bill Callahan said of the team’s 2-1 performance in the 17U Elite Turnpike Division after losing a game in the Hoop Group Select League to start the week. “I thought we played OK this morning, but we got beat.
“But we came back and beat a good, strong Middlesex team this afternoon.”
Corey Perkins had 11 of his 14 points in the first half of the win, helping JB Hoops to a 38-27 halftime lead.
Robert Vanbrunt, who led the team with five points in the second half, and Connor Kelley finished with 11 points each. Ethan Meuser had 10. Jeremy Callahan added eight.
JB Hoops Callahan began the day with a 66-61 loss to We R1 Perkins from Newark, Del.
“It is a busy stretch,” coach Callahan said, “but it’s not as busy as it used to be when we were on the road for 15 days in July.”
Team STAT Premier defeated JB Hoops Brunner, 63-41, in a first-round 16U Elite game at Spooky Nook Saturday.
