JB Hoops 2-0 at Nike Nationals

The JB Hoops National girls team added a second win Wednesday night, continuing a strong start at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Chicago.

JB Hoops downed Chicago Hoops Express Silver, 65-56, to wrap up action on the first day of the three-day event.

The win left JB Hoops as one of two 2-0 teams in Pool A of the Prague Division. JB Hoops will meet the other 2-0 team MCW Starz 2020/2021 Kia in the next game Thursday at 12:45 p.m.

MCW Starz is a Massachusetts-based AAU program started by Michael Carter-Williams, the 2013-2014 National Basketball Association Rookie of the Year who finished the most recent season in the NBA playoffs with the Orlando Magic. The program is run by his parents.

JB Hoops opened with a 54-39 win over Bucky’s Northwest Basketball Academy from Shoreline, Wash.

Chicago Hoops Express had been the most decisive winner in the openers of pool play, downing Cal Stars Valley 17 Select, 53-36.

After scoring 30 points in the first half against Bucky’s, JB Hoops put up 34 in the first half against Chicago with the help of four 3-pointers. Rachael Rose scored eight of the first-half points including a 3-pointer, Lindsey Welsh hit two 3-pointers and Lauren Charlton had one while scoring five points.

MCW has defeated the Jersey Cardinals 2020, 37-33, and Cal Stars, 42-25.
