JB Hoops teams combine for 4-0 day

MANHEIM – The JB Hoops Rose and JB Hoops Bucci girls teams combined to go 4-0 Sunday, the second of three days in the Blue Chip USA Invitational at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster County.

Both of the AAU program’s National teams are 3-1 in the event with a game remaining Monday morning.

JB Hoops Rose is one of three teams at 3-1 in Pool H.

JB Hoops Bucci is alone in second out of six teams in Pool A behind unbeaten the Lady Runnin Rebels, the team it lost to Saturday.

Sunday’s action began with JB Hoops Rose handing Mid Penn Motion 2021 its only loss of the event, 51-37.

Rachel McDonald had 10 of her 14 points when JB Hoops Rose broke away in the second half after leading just 18-16 at the break.

Maria Belardi added 12 points and 4 steals.

Team leaders in other statistical categories were: Kayla Rose with seven rebounds; Clair Marion with three assists and Trinity Johnson with three blocks.

Lauren Charlton had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and a blocked shot to lead JB Hoops Bucci to a 41-35 victory over Spooky Nook Lady Raiders Glover.

Charlton was done for the day with 4:06 left in the game because of an injury.

Rachael Rose had eight points and five rebounds.

Belardi did not miss a shot while scoring 12 of her 16 points in the second half of a 61-55 victory for JB Hoops Rose over Ste-Foy Elite Laroche.

Marion added nine points and three assists.

Claire Dougherty grabbed 10 rebounds.

Belardi also contributed three steals and two assists.

JB Hoops Bucci then rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Ste-Foy Elite Gaboury, 53-45.

Rachael Rose was 7-for-7 from the floor in the second half while scoring 18 of her 20 points to lead the comeback.

Lindsey Welsh grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 6 assists.

Nya Johnson had nine points.
