JB Hoops teams finish USA Invitational with wins

MANHEIM – The JB Hoops entries in the Blue Chip USA Invitational at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster County produced similar results.

Both National girls teams from the Scranton-based AAU program won in their finales Monday, completing 4-1 efforts that left them in second place in six-team pools.

JB Hoops Rose rallied in the second half for a 41-35 victory over the Connecticut Northstars Dacosta in Pool H.

Rachel McDonald scored 13 points, made 4 steals and sparked a late rally with seven points in 22 seconds to erase the team’s final deficit.

JB Hoops Bucci had six players score between 10 and 5 points while posting a 42-35 win over York Thunder 2020 in Pool A.

Rachael Rose led the way with 10 points and 3 steals.

Claire Dougherty added nine points and six rebounds for the Rose team. Trinity Johnson had six points, nine rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots. Kayla Rose grabbed nine rebounds. Clair Marion had six rebounds, five steals and two blocked shots. Maria Belardi had four assists.

Nya Johnson, who also had four steals, and Taylor Huyck added seven points each for the Bucci team. Lindsey Welsh had six points while Cecelia Collins and Leah Hodick added five points and three assists each.
