Ksiazek contributes to ESU opening win
Cassie Ksiazek scored six points, shared the team lead with five rebounds and played major minutes in her college debut Friday afternoon, helping the East Stroudsburg University women’s basketball team open its season with a 55-48 victory over Frostburg State at the Shippensburg Tournament.
The JB Hoops alum waited a year to make her debut after reinjuring her left knee.
Ksiazek did not have to wait long once East Stroudsburg started its season. She was the game’s first substitute, entering after just 1:19, and went on to play 32 minutes, third-most on the team.
The 6-foot redshirt freshman forward/center scored five points in the first quarter, finishing it with a three-point play for a 19-14 lead. She shot 2-for-4 from the floor and 2-for-5 from the line in the game.
Ksiazek’s original injury had kept her out of her junior season at Abington Heights.
