Misericordia University is off to a 6-0 start in women’s basketball with the help of three JB Hoops alums among the team’s top seven players.
Erica Haefele, a 5-foot-4 guard from Mid Valley, has moved from key contributor to one of the leading roles on the team in her junior season.
Haefele is joined in the starting lineup by Gianna Delfino, a 5-11 freshman forward/guard from Dunmore, and is often joined in the backcourt by another freshman, her younger sister, Morgan Haefele.
Erica Haefele is the team’s leading 3-point shooter, both in total makes and in percentage. She is 15-for-36 for 41.7 percent.
While ranking second on the team with 30 minutes played per game, Erica Haefele is also second in assists (2.8 per game) and third in points (11.3) and steals (1.8). She is shooting 34.4 percent from the floor and 78.6 percent from the line while also averaging 3.2 rebounds.
Misericordia posted its latest win, 86-58, over Keystone College Monday with the help of 11 points and a season-high six assists by Erica Haefele. It was her fifth straight game scoring in double figures.
Delfino has joined her in the starting lineup in all six games and finished in double figures in rebounds in her first three college games.
The team leader in assists with 4.2 per game, Delfino is also second in steals with 11 total and third in blocked shots with three.
Delfino is averaging 9.8 points and 7.8 rebounds.
Morgan Haefele has seen the second-most playing time among the players the Cougars bring off the bench. In 18.2 minutes per game, she averages 3.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
