George Tinsley and the Binghamton Bearcats will try to continue their progress tonight when they play at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.
Tinsley, who was named Monday as the America East Rookie of the Year, is the first Binghamton player in seven years to post consecutive double-doubles. He had 10 points and 11 rebounds at Columbia Nov. 13, then had his high games in points and rebounds with 21 and 12 in Binghamton’s first win, 76-72, Saturday at home against Sacred Heart.
Saturday’s win was the only home game in the first five games for Binghamton (1-3).
Tinsley, a JB Hoops alum, is sixth in the America East in rebounds with 8.3 per game. He is the conference’s second-highest scoring freshman at 11.8 points per game.
NJIT (2-2) won at Binghamton, 74-57, last season. It has won the only two meetings between the two teams.
