Samec receives weekly award from PSAC
Josh Samec scored in double figures in both games and made a variety of other contributions Saturday and Sunday when West Chester University won its first two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men’s basketball games to improve to 6-0 overall on the season.
The JB Hoops alum was rewarded for his efforts over four victories during the week with his selection Monday as the PSAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week.
Samec went 6-for-6 from the foul line in the final five minutes to finish his 16-point performance in Saturday’s 72-67 victory over Gannon in Erie.
The sophomore forward from Hazleton Area had a double-double in a strong all-around effort during Sunday’s 73-54 victory at Clarion. It was his second double-double of the week.
Samec averaged 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocked shots in 27.3 minutes per game during the week. He shot 47 percent from the floor and made 10 3-pointers.
West Chester hosts Wilmington (Del.) Wednesday at 6 p.m.
