Burrier a leader on top team

JB Hoops alum Kieran Burrier is part of one of the best starts in District 2 boys basketball.

Holy Cross is one of two teams, along with Wallenpaupack, in the district that are 3-0 through Thursday night’s action.

Burrier was the team’s top scorer with 19 points in the second of those three wins, 65-42, Monday over Pittston Area.

The Crusaders are the top-ranked Small School Boys team in NEPABasketball.com’s Super Six Power Rankings of District 2 teams. They play Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Lackawanna College Student Union against Nanticoke in the last game of the Conference Challenge tripleheader.

Burrier was NEPABasketball.com’s Lackawanna League Division 3 Player of the Year last season when the Crusaders won the division title as well as the District 2 Class 2A championship on the way to a berth in the state quarterfinals.
