Sheehan honored by conference
University of Scranton senior guard and JB Hoops alum Emily Sheehan was named Monday as the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week following her Most Valuable Player performance during the Lady Royals championship in the Hilton Scranton Poinsettia Classic.
Sheehan had a game-high 18 points and 4 assists in a 95-43 win over Elmira, then scored 11 points and made a career-high 5 steals during a 75-57 victory over previously unbeaten Misericordia University in the championship game.
The Dunmore graduate finished off her week with 6 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in just 17 minutes during a 100-44 out of Rosemont.
Sheehan is averaging 10.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 42.3 percent from 3-point range.
The Lady Royals are unbeaten and ranked second in the country among National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III teams going into the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas. They play Saturday at 7 p.m. against George Fox, which is ninth and 13th in the two major Division III rankings, then Monday at 1 p.m. against St. Vincent.
