Tinsley has hot shooting hand at Binghamton

Choosing the most impressive shooting statistic for George Tinsley over the past two weeks is not an easy task.

The JB Hoops alum and Abington Heights graduate is shooting 73.1 percent (19-for-26) from the floor for three games during that stretch.

Within that total is three straight games of hitting at least half his 3-point attempts while shooting a combined 56.3 percent (9-for-16) from long distance. Tinsley has been perfect from inside the arc, hitting all 10 attempts.

After landing his third America East Conference Rookie of the Week award Jan. 27, Tinsley went out and scored a career-high 25 points in his only game last week, Wednesday’s 73-57 loss at Hartford. He was 6-for-10 on 3-pointers, made two more shots and went 3-for-4 from the floor.

By scoring 52 points in the last three games, Tinsley has improved his scoring average by more than a point to 11.5 per game. He is also averaging 7.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots while playing 38.2 minutes per game in 20 starts.

Binghamton is 2-6 in the America East and 8-13 overall going into Wednesday’s game at the University of Albany.
