14U boys win fifth straight

Gabriel Tanner started each half fast Saturday while leading the NEPA Elite 14U boys team to its fifth straight victory, 76-58, over Hoopz Academy Elite.

Playing in its home debut at Riverfront Sports in Scranton, NEPA Elite won its only game of the weekend. It was playing in the Boys 9th Grade Division.

Tanner led the way with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.

The rising freshman from Mid Valley had eight points in the first 2:24 with the help of a 3-pointer and three-play play. He scored five straight points off steals for a 13-5 lead.

Tanner then scored six points in the first 3:20 of the second half while NEPA Elite was expanding its 38-32 halftime lead to 51-37.

There was plenty of help in the high-powered offense.

All seven players in uniform for the game produced at least six points.

Chase Scanlan had 15 points and 4 assists.

Nicholas Williams made his last five shots to finish with 13 points and 6 rebounds.

Roman Valvano led in rebounds with 10. Will Marion led in assists with six while scoring nine points. Mason Fedor matched Tanner for the team steals lead with four while also scoring eight points.

NEPA Elite improved to 7-1 on the season.
