The list of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I schools making offers to NEPA Elite Clark 17U girls player Ciera Toomey expanded again today – both numerically and geographically.
Boston College became the third basketball program in less than 24 hours to make a scholarship offer to Toomey.
The number of schools offering spots on their team to Toomey is now at seven from four states while including a school in New England for the first time.
The previous offers came from colleges in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.
The 6-foot-3 sophomore also has scholarship offers from Penn State, Bucknell and Villanova in Pennsylvania, St. John’s in New York and Rider in New Jersey. She also has an invitation to join the program at the University of Pennsylvania, which, as an Ivy League member, does not offer scholarships specifically for athletics.
Toomey was the leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker this summer and fall for the Scranton-based NEPA Elite AAU team that won the Hoop Group Showcase League in its first season. She averaged 15.7 points as a freshman at Dunmore where she was a third-team, Class 3A all-state selection.
Boston College went 11-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and 20-12 overall in the 2019-20 seasons.
